Syba Signs welcomes you to this collaborative space, designed to facilitate sharing information about the theory and practice of Guided Inquiry.

Welcome

Welcome to the Syba SignsGuided Inquiry© seminar network. This is a space for teacher librarians, classroom teachers, members of the executive to share sample units of work and helpful resources, as well as ask (and answer) questions. We hope that you’ll also use it as a place to share ideas about action research that can improve our practice.

We will also use this space to support Syba’s ongoing series of professional development seminars by sharing notes, presentations and handouts. For a list of 2009 Syba Seminars click here.

If you have attended a previous seminar join the seminar group to find powerpoint presentations, handouts and to chat with other teacher-librarians in your area about these and future seminars. You will need to appy to join the group by clicking on the group links below.

If you are looking for pre reading material for one of the Syba Signs "Leading Learning: A Guided Inquiry Approach" seminars, feel free to access the Guided Inquiry© reading group!

Ross Todd and his colleagues at the Centre for International Scholarship in School Librarianship will be joining our discussions.

How to find seminar materials / join your Guided Inquiry group

Click on the tab at the top of the screen "Groups" then find the group you are looking for and click on it, this will take you to the Group page.

Once you are at the group page you will need to request an invitation to join. There is then space for a message (optional) but make sure you scroll down and click send request. Once you have requested this invitation you will need to wait to be approved (usually no longer than 24hours).

Once approved you will receive an email from the Guided Inquiry Ning - follow the link in this email to accept your invitation. You should now be a member of the group and able to view the materials that are contained within.

Kind Regards,

Jodie Wilson

Guided Inquiry seminar in Auckland July 2008

Huge motivation to go and 'make a change'. Have just re-read my Social Sciences plan for term 3!! Yuck!! I was 'doing' the Olympics (birds/dinosaurs etc) what ever you want to call it.

I will let you know what the children think of the changes ...

Ban Those Bird Units! 15 Models for Teaching and Learning in Information-rich and Technology-rich Environments

David V. Loertscher, Carol Koechlin, and Sandi Zwaan;
